I extracted this basic information from JohnnyJet’s Erie dining comments, adding map links when available:

DINING IN ERIE

Petra Restaurant http://www.petrarestaurant.com 3602 W Lake Road; Erie PA 16505, tel.: 814-838-7197, offers tasty Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes like baba ghanoush and kibbeh at reasonable prices. http://foodpage.us/620619?showmap=1

Mi Scuzi http://www.miscuzirestaurant.com 27th & Myrtle Streets; Erie PA 16508, tel.: 814-454-4533 just opened up two blocks from St. Vincent Hospital, and serves decent Italian food such as chicken Scarpiello and homemade pasta ($15.95). http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=mi+scuzi&near=Erie,+PA&ll=42.108672,-80.079034&iwstate1=dir:to&iwloc=A&f=d&daddr=2641+Myrtle+St,+Erie,+PA+16508

The Pufferbelly Restaurant (www.thepufferbelly.com), a restored firehouse, 414 French Street, Erie PA 16507, tel. 814- 454-1557 http://foodpage.us/620868?showmap=1&toz=

Greg s Place, at the Erie Airport. You wouldn t think of going to the airport for dinner, but Greg s is known as one of the best places in Erie for steaks and chicken Parmigiana http://www.johnnyjet.com/images/PicForNewsletterERIEAUG2004CHICEKNPARM.JPG
Greg’s Place at the Erie International Airport, 4411 W. 12th St., Erie, PA; tel.: 814-838-8715. http://foodpage.us/953438?showmap=1&toz=

The Texas Roadhouse. The food is good, and the atmosphere is fun (waitress sing and dance, they give out all the peanuts you want, and you can throw the shells on the floor). But my favorite part about this place are the sweet rolls that come with cinnamon butter! 7475 Peach St., Erie; tel. 814-864-9494.. http://foodpage.us/942521?showmap=1

If you still have room for dessert, then head over to: Creamland. They serve both soft and hard ice cream. Creamland Drive-In. 6221 West Ridge Rd, Erie, PA16506. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Creamland+%2B+Erie&btnG=Google+Search

If you want old-fashioned American food in an American setting, head to Freeport Restaurant 11040 E. Lake Road (Rt.5), North East, PA 16428, about 15 miles east of Erie, tel. 814-725-4607
