I visit the Elizabeth City/South Mills/Moyock area regularly, and have always enjoyed the food at:

They do a great traditional "big breakfast", and they also offer a pretty good breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are also terrific, I believe Wednesday night dinner is half price – you can get a great barbecue dinner of a pulled pork sandwich for about $4

Almost directly across the street is "Border Station", more of a take out joint which also has pretty good barbecue and fried chicken. Either one is worth a stop, but Southland is a little nicer.
