I found a great place in the tiny town of Edom, TX (west of Tyler) last October. Place is called The Shed, and it was awesome. Rustic, yet clean and neat as a pin. Real home cooking. They don’t have a menu; they just write what’s available that day on a chalkboard (no prices are posted, either). I got one of their breakfasts which included two perfectly cooked eggs, a big thick slab of ham, two biscuits, gravy (tasted homemade), and all the coffee I could drink. [:p]
I went to the counter to pay, and she said, "That’ll be $4.02". !!! I about fell over.
That is an "unreal" price…..would love to go there. Our nearest Roadfood place for breakfast is The Forest Diner on Rt 40, way west of Baltimore. The food can be excellent at times, except for their homefries which always smell like wet wood. But for the breakfast you described, it would cost over twice as much.
