You are in luck. I have been on the same quest, and recently struck gold.

In cincinnati there used to be a company called Edelman’s (I think) that made awesome brats. They came attached in long strands, and were of various sizes – one might be long and thin, and the next might be short and fat. Well sadly, that company is gone.

But, I recently found a decent substitute at Findlay Market in downtown Cincinnati. I think (but wouldn’t bet my life on it) that they came from the Queen City Sausage Company. Not sold in stores, just butcher shops. I bought 5 pounds worth two months ago ($12.50) and need to get more (as well as hit the treadmill) Good luck.
