Oh heck, yeah! I remember beer balls well, because up in Potsdam, all we did was drink beer…and because Matts was cheap, that’s what we bought. Potsdam was basically college utopia. Lots of colleges nearby, drinking age hadn’t gone up to 21 yet, and phenominal ‘beer blasts’ every weekend. A sorority and fraternity (frats were usually from Clarkson, an engineering school) would get together and have a HUGE afternoon blow-out. It was not unusual to kick 150-200 kegs over a 4 hour period. We’d have it out in a field filled with hay, hire a local country-rock band, and just hang (usually peacefully) for hours on end! It was REALLY fun, and something you just don’t see in urban areas. I’m going back to Potsdam for my 20th reunion this summer and I can’t wait to be back up in the North Country of NY!!
