Living in Or. now eh?………….If your from the north side remember Steigerwald Bakery?
It closed a few years back……….They had the BEST
german rye bread……..
The meat market next door is still in operation tho.
They still make and sell KILLER homemade German style
sausages/kielbasa etc……………Now Webers rest. gets their bread from NY bakery. Not
as good tho………….Sadly the only Danzers left is the one on Ainsley Dr.
The Park St. one is/was a vietnam food place……..
Gruens on Butternut St. closed a few years back. They
had the BEST sauerbraten in town !
Webers resturant is still plugging along tho. and still
run by the Weber family………..geo
Since 1974. Went to Syracuse University actually college of forestry. Danzer’s had a great rubin. I’ve been to Gruens. Only other bakery I remember was Butternut Bakery. Lots of good food memories from that area, Angotti’s Italian cafe near Burnett Ave. and The Skillet. There was a Firehouse restaurant downtown but Dinosaur BBq was not there yet. I worked at the Evergreen Mart doing landscaping and always enjoyed going in Doug’s (the working man’s tavern) for a cold one and good sausage and horseradish.[|)]
