In another post, I stated my breakfast preference as The Lincoln Diner. Dinner is a different matter, however. With so many choices available, exploration and experimentation become the order of the day. Over the years, I have developed some favorites that I return to time and again:
Farnsworth House
401 Baltimore St.
Blue Parrot Bistro
35 Chambersburg St.
Gingerbread Man
217 Steinwehr Ave.
Herr Tavern Publick House
900 Chambersburg Rd.
Richard’s Restaurant
The Eisenhower Resort
I stayed at The Eisenhower, a few years ago because it was the closest hotel to the Gettysburg Reenactment I was attending. This is how I discovered Richard’s Restaurant, the in-house restaurant of the hotel. Richard’s is open to all and not confined to guests of the hotel. The menu is simple and straightforward, pretty much what you would expect from an in-house restaurant. The difference here was attention to detail, superb service and each dish done to perfection. The NY Strip Steak never failed to please and soon became my favorite.
