At this point in my life the main memory I will have of lunch today at Southern Pit was that the sauce and the slaw were sweet, sweet sweet. They make a big deal out of having lemonade (sign on the door) and it turns out to be canned Minute Maid. The pork was nicely trimmed, I will give them that. Altogether, I’d say drive a few miles north to S. Main St. in Jonesboro to Dean’s where the ‘que is at least as good (pork only though, I believe, no beef or ribs) and the stew much better, or a little further still to the Clayton County branch of Harold’s and ever so much better cracklin’ bread with rather similar ‘que.
I went by Good City. I just like the way the person, family member I guess, behind the counter acted. I’d go back and eat there some time although the menu has nothing that sounds out of the ordinary.
Margos’s was closed during our mid day visit. I might stop there some time also, having learned that they have things besides Italian.
