I live by myself and travel a lot, so I don’t have the ability to stockpile deals I may get at the supermarket. The last time I was in town, I noticed the price of cheese was out of site (1 lb gruyere= 1 lb king crab legs–I bought the legs). I will soon have to reevaluate my grocery decisions. Since I am usually on per diem, I can make my food budget stretch, but often, I’m with you, Steve, and just say "I ain’t payin’ that much".
Fortunately, in my college days, I got used to living simply. I like beans, macaroni & cheese and I try to cook meals in advance in bulk, which helps.
I, too, will be sacrificing my extended cable. I’ll miss Food network and the Daily Show, but that’s about it.
