I live in NJ which is not only the ricjest state now, but the most expensive state to live in. I am currently on disability, and with that comes food stamps. I get $79 a month, that’s it. I try to eat healthy, lots of fruit and veggies, milk, eggs etc. With the prices raising so drastically, if I want my food stamps to last all month, I can’t eat that way anymore. It’s really upsetting. A gallon of skim milk here is $4.09, a dozen eggs is $2.15, and even if I buy generic/store brand breadm it’s now over $2 as well. Come on now, that’s crazy.
I find that I am spending more money on food that isn’t so great for me, just so that I can have something in the house. It disgusts me that a bag of potato chips is now CHEAPER then a head of lettuce. I am unable to drive lately so I can’t get out to veggie stands and such, and have to rely on the local supermarket to deliver once a week.
Ok, thank you for letting me vent. [;)]
