Last fall I bought a couple Sonya apples. They were very good, but I didn’t see them again untill this fall. They are un uniform in shape, and don’t color well, but they are very good. I think they have a hit. I have been out of the orchard biz for many years, but still read a little in the trade press. Several companies are re-naming apples, and trademarking the name before they plant large blocks. They figure that if they are going to spend the $$$$ to make a "new" apple popular, they don’t want the competition horning in on the trade. I understand that "Pink Lady" is one of the apples that was renamed and trademarked. I don’t know about Sonya.
