We tried some of the spray repellents, They are mostly concentrated urine of some sort…but all it did was attract every cat and dog in the area to sniff and join the fun…
Paul, I knew I would find a use for that .458 Winchester Magnum I picked up at an auction…Bambi is as good as in the smoker ! When you live in Bubbaville, ya don’t worry none about being ‘sporting’. I don’t care about meat, I want REVENGE !![:D]
Seriously though, the deer didn’t bother the cherries this year (first crop has come and gone). And the few plums we had didn’t draw them in either. The pears and the apricots are a year behind, so we don’t know how they will fair next year.
I must tell you all …We had an APRIUM and 2 PLUCOTS in SoCal. The Aprium had huge crops of apricot appearing fruit…with a reddish tinge to the meat and real sweet. It’s only problem was that it was very ‘early’ to bloom and fruit..we lost the crop a couple of years to frost in the Spring. We brought one of the Plucots with us to Indiana, They look like a yellow plum, but have an apricot flavor that is very good. These aren’t grafted, they are genetic breeding and Starks handles them. I recommend both if you are in an area that can handle them.
