I’m originally from Philly, and live in Jersey. There’s no doubt that his largest fan base was always here and in the NY/North Jersey area. That aside, I also went to see him twice in the mid-70s, and actually sat on the 2nd row one time, and the 7th, I think, at the other. My ticket stub scans and pictures of him are on my flickr pages.
Regarding now, 2007, I have no doubt that the passion from the stage and the passion from the audience will still be there. He will always be quite the draw, because whether you like him, dislike him, whatever – and it’s almost impossible to explain for it to make any sense on here – that when you’ve been to one of his shows, there is something really special there, a feeling, and yeah, an excitement, that couldn’t happen anyplace else. And I’ve seen many, many bands! I could care less about any comments made by anyone on here in response to what I just said, because it truly wouldn’t bother me. I was never his biggest fan, ever, but I know I was in a special place when I saw him live.
