There is wonderful food on HHI. Maybe not true "road food" since you have to drive an hour off the main road of 1-95 just to get to HHI. But, if you are there.. check out some of our favorites.
Amigos Cafe’Y Cantina–located in the BiLo shopping center, in between Sea Pines Circle and Coligny Circle…don’t let the looks fool you.. the food is incredible. My favorite is the Carnitas Burritos–shared with my husband. But they also serve, a "low country oyster" burrito and a Baja fish taco, that are also amazing. Warning… everything they serve is huge… the burritos are like small footballs… so you better be hungry. They also do a lot of carry-out business… can’t get too much more road food than that.
Another great mexican place is
Mi Tierra–it is in a shopping center area, right as you come onto the island. We often stop there as our first stop.
Harold’s Diner.. so good I don’t even want to tell you about it, since it is always packed now… and this will make it worse. Check out the big H. or the grouper sandwich, which is a little lighter fare than the big H. Harolds line is "eat here or we both starve"
Gruby’s NY Deli, amazing.
Jump n Phils—great "bar food." located right off Sea Pines Circle. If you go during a Packer game –the brats and kraut are as good as any you would get in Green Bay.
Breakfast, Blueberry french toast at Signe’s is my favorite. Or the Sunrise Cafe… always a favorite.
Hemingways–eat outside and enjoy the waterfront scenery and the great food.
If you want one truly nice place.. check out the Sage Room. The Nebraska beef is the best you will get on the island. (this one is for sure not "road food" )
enjoy! There is great food here, you just have to be able to find it.
