Thanks for the locals’ plug, Carolina Bill. You’re right, October through March is when we locals come out of hiding. One of the radio stations here has a tagline "Welcome back to the locals." I second your recommendation to avoid places like Hudson’s, etal. If you want fresh seafood, your best bet is to find a fish market and buy it yourself. There are several good markets out on St. Helena Island (outside of Beaufort), or try Bryan’s on Hwy 170 on the way to Hilton Head. As for Italian food, in 10 years of living here, I haven’t found an exceptional bowl of pasta yet!
