Actually, Clay Aiken has a fairly lucrative Broadway contract currently. He has been the featured star of the Monty Python musical, Spamalot, for the past few months, and I believe that the contract continues for a few more months. If he was not considered to be "a draw", the producers would not have hired him for the role.
