Both of my parents are from Maine, and I grew up on the stuff.
My mom’s version was very simple.

1 large can Campbell’s tomato soup ( no water)
1 large onion sauteed
1 pound ground beef.
1 pound elbow macaroni ( cooked and drained)
That is it !
I still find it to be one of my favorite comfort foods !
