This makes sense to me.
I constantly hear about how the "wealthy" are not fairly taxed. Where I live, one has to be what would pass for "wealthy" in other parts of the country in order to simply own a home (avg property tax in my county is $7000). While the percentage of income tax the "wealthy" pay may be lower than the percentage paid by some with lesser incomes, the "wealthy" person is more likely to own a business, on which they pay taxes, buy more goods and services, on which they pay taxes, have people on a payroll, for which they pay taxes, own a larger home, on which they pay more taxes than a smaller property…and so on and so on. Looking at the picture solely on the basis of a percent of income is shortsighted.
