I’ve been in most of these as well as a number that weren’t listed (i.e. 40 West, Fells Point, other English’s on the Eastern shore, Tastee Diner in Silver Spring). Generally, I don’t think you’re going to find a serious crab cake in a diner. For one reason you must consider the cost. Most lump crab cake platters are $24+ in large part because of the cost of lump crab. Lump Maryland or Carolina crab is almost double the cost of Indonesian crab which isn’t as sweet. I just don’t think you’re going to find this on the menu at many, if any, diner. Lump crab meat, by the way, was $22 a pound two weeks ago in Crisfield, about this on the Maine Avenue wharf in D. C. for Carolina and double this at Sutton Place/Balducci’s. Phillips, which is Indonesian, is about $19 or 20 at Costco and elsewhere. I actually don’t really care for this.
