Abalones are becoming hard to get even in CA seafood restaurants. When you see them on the menu, "market price" is what you’re looking at.

"Years ago", when i lived in Monterey, CA (early ’70’s), the abalones were much more plentiful and were reasonably priced. You could get an "Ab" dinner for about what you’d pay for most other seafood dishes. In a relative sense, seafood was less expensive back then too.

If anyone can find them on a restaurant menu, at other than "market" prices, I for one would like to know abou tit.
