I would say that most of the time a dollar hot dog wouldn’t be good. But there are exceptions. If you get a bag of 10/1 dogs or smaller at a good price, from a place like Restaurant Depot, you can sell a good dog at a dollar and make a profit. Until about a few years ago, many street carts in NYC sold a quality Sabrett natural casing dog for a buck.
Check out the link below. I don’t know how they do it, but a place in ChinaTown serves a Best quarter pounder for a buck. As high a quality all beef dog as there is. This one is skinless and prepared on a roller grill, but still….
