"Chiliman, I notice you drive a pretty nice tow vehicle. I notice that one of the 1 buck sellers drives a piece of major-dented crap that I wouldn’t get in to go a block."
Perception is everything! I will allow the public to percieve me a goofball, a spaz, etc. but never, never as dirty or as someone who deals in anything but quality. I wouldn’t let folks see me in a nasty car or truck the same that I wouldn’t pick my nose while they are on line. I think that there are some street guys and gals who are looking for the pity angle, figuring if people will feel bad, they will buy more or tip better. Similarly, some complain to customers about the cost to buy our spots downtown (at $185/year, what’s to compain about?). I made a committment to be the best, and every part of my biz, from the cart, to the truck (Avalanche for those who are wondering) to the homemade condiments, to how I run my schedule is geared toward that end. And I have funny hats! WOOooooo funny hats.
