Polar, a large Northeast store brand soda company, has always kept their own brand. Unlike Cott (remember "It’s Cott to be Good") and other companies that decided to focus on store brands alone, Worcester, Mass based Polar has always maintained shelf space for branded soda under the Polar brand, as well as taking over the local franchise for several 2nd tier national brands. The product is , IMO, very average.
They must be sick of seeing upstart brands sell premium soda. Over the weekend, I saw six paks of Polar soda in painted glass bottles. At over $4 a six pak it is not cheap, but the graphics are great, and the soda is excellent. It is made with sugar (no HFCS) and natural (and artificial) flavor. I saw Black Cherry, Root Beer, Creme Soda, and Orange. I did not see the Lemon Lime that I remember fondly from 50 yrs ago. I bought a 6 pak of the Black Cherry. It was as good as, or better than any of the "super premium" black cherry sodas that I have had. http://www.polarbev.com
