We (I) are pretty much done as far as trips are concerned for this year. There is a weekend trip to NYC and possibly either a weekend trip to either Albany or Vermont planned for November but I don’t see either breaking new ground. This year took us (or in some cases just I) to the West Coast, The South, The Midwest and around New England/North East and although there wasn’t much Roadfooding, the Mid Atlantic
I plan to get a jump start on my end of the year report and will do so after the Thanksgiving weekend.
Next year I plan to visit every region of the country with the exception of the West Coast.
If good fortune continues:
I will be back in Colorado and Utah in April after an absence of nearly a decade- yes my last trip out there was way back in 2009 and I think about all the things that have happened in my life since-this will be a 9 day trip and I’m glad I got my air fare- because they are rising already. There will be some ballparks on this trip.
Next summer (hopefully July, but possibly June) will bring me on a weekend (possibly 3 day weekend) trip for baseball in the Mid Atlantic, hopefully hitting both Trenton and Wilmington DE- and a return to Maryland for just one meal- to go to Jerry’s Seafood– One of my biggest roadfood disappointments this year was not being able to visit on our DC trip back in June.
Finally next Fall Sandra and I will be embarking on our cross country roadtrip culminating on a 5 day stay in New Mexico. We are planning on over 3 weeks. lasting into October. I’ve already devised our route which will take us North going and South coming back.
So far I’ve heard from a few Roadfooders who have expressed interest in joining/meeting us along the way.
We will be making stops as follows going:
Buffalo NY through Cleveland into Northern Indiana through Iowa (Not sure what part of Iowa yet) into Kansas City, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Amarillo and finally New Mexico where we plan to visit Albuquerque, Taos, Santa Fe and Carlsbad Caverns.
Heading back our route will take us through:
West Texas, San Antonio and Austin, Beaumont, New Orleans, Jackson MS, Memphis, Nashville, The TN Smokey Mountains, The VA Blue Ridge Parkway back up into the Maryland Panhandle, Penn Dutch Country, and finally New Haven and back home.
Although stranger things have happened, I’m hoping everything works out as planned.
