I was driving back from Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago and I noticed a sign indicating that the original site of KFC was in Corbin, KY. I stopped and it was a couple of miles off I-75. They had restored it and inside was a museum and it contained several rooms of the original site. It was done very nice with a bench where you could sit besides a statue of the Colonel. The site contained a lot of the original kitchen and also attached was a motel.
I recoginize a lot of Roadfooders do not like chains, but I’ll bet most of them did KFC several years ago.
I recall when they were great, then they went downhill due to franchise abuse. I heard they tried to buy back the franchises.
That is where they lost control of their quality control.
When I first started buying KFC, all they had was the original, then they came out with extra crispy, which has always been my favorite.
I can’t do that anymore due to various medical problems, but I sure did like their extra krispy, side of slaw, potatoes with gravy and their rolls or bisquits.
Too bad I am getting old.
