So I have recently come into a a position where I am supposed to help out at a restaurant. The gas equipment is all hooked up, but something is bothering me.
The pilot lights for the grill and range do not have thermocouples. I’m sure they are purposely designed this way, but I don’t understand how this is supposed to be safe. Is the expectation that theses pilots will be lit and snuffed out at opening and closing (pilot valve closed of course)? Even then… this doesn’t seem safe.
Am I missing something?
Here is an image of one of pilots in a Radiance grill:

Thanks for any help, on this surely stupid question.
