In just a few days my Traveling Companion and I will be starting our ambitious road trip around New England: 6 states in 12 days, with major stops in Providence/Newport, coastal Maine, and the Berkshires. (We’ve already done a Boston-area trip, so didn’t include it this time….)
We’ve amassed info on quite a few places (this website/forum, “Roadfood” and “500 Places,” various guide books, etc.), and previous trips to Maine (the TC went many years ago) and Rhode Island (I went a couple of years ago) have made some of the planning easier.
However, we’re open to more ideas, particularly with respect to the Berkshires and Litchfield Hills (info/recs seems to be rather few and far between). Are there any regional specialties to look out for there?
Our general itinerary is below; clearly we’re passing through some places quite quickly, and will linger at others. Too many clam shacks, so little time.
Thanks for any leads….
