That’s what I’m talking about Road Foodies! To the roadfoodie, who is constantly defending FoodTV….Who says we’re all too hard on FoodTV…Show me the last time you saw a show like the one Tony Bordain just put on tonight on FoodTV. It’s been far too long and far too many of us have given up hope. Except for DD&D’s, Barefoot and Tyler, you can keep the entire FoodChannel/FoodTV/Food Network…. Whatever they want to call themselves.
This show tonight on the Travel Channel was pure genius. Probably the single best show I have ever seen on what life in a NYC restaurant is all about. His book Kitchen Confidential was great, but Tony …Dude! This show was beyond great. I see an Emmy coming folks. This guy is just so good.
As good as "Into The Fire" was at times, there was never a single show that could compare with what I just saw tonight. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! He is my favorite…No question about it. Guy of Diner’s Drive-Ins and Dives is a close second, but Tony B..he’s THE BEST!!! Tyler and Contessa Babe, love you, too. But, that’s about it.
To it’s credit The Travel Channel JUST GETS IT! It’s filling the void left by FoodTV. They’re coming on guys…Coming on! They’re comfortable with maintaining the type of programing that FoodTV/Food Network originally started out with…"Best of" "Into the Fire" etc.
The Travel Channel sees an opening here for those of us who love food and the food business. They are fast becoming everything FoodTV once was and no longer wants to be. Hail the new Emperor! Long live the Travel Channel.
So, thank you Travel Channel from all of us who don’t want recipes that take 30 minutes, who are not interested in the molecular make up of a potato, who don’t want to see cake decorating contests or shopping shows for kitchen gadgets! More Tony..More strange foods..More DeCarlo across the country..
