I was going through stuff that was damaged while in storage, from last year’s flood; I found a box of old food books that I’d collected back in the ’70s. Some, unimportant, were damaged. But among the dry and perfectly fine were…
A first edition of Roadfood
Jane Butel’s Chili Madness and Barbecue: A Passionate Cookbook, which have the best chili and bbq sauce recipes I’ve ever gotten from a cookbook.
And, a first edition of The Amy Vanderbilt Cookbook, from 1961, which in itself is no big deal until I started looking through the first few pages and say, "with drawings by Andrew Warhol". I would imagine there aren’t many of those around.
edit: ebay turns up 40 of them, ranging from $1 to $20. Still, nice book. And, there was one cookbook that was damaged that I wanted; The Prudence Penny Cookbook, an old edition from the late 30s or early 40s. Everyone used lard for everything back then, btw.
