Good afternoon all. This is for hot dog vending (carts) business interests…
I am seriously interested in starting a hot dog vending business when I retire from my job. Since I never opened any vending business and have a lot to learn – Can experienced hot dog vendors chime in with their best and worse moments in the HDV cart business? I am currently taking the Servsafe manager on-line course. My goal is to have all the requirements completed before next summer (including the purchase of a new cart).
Do you have any preference to steaming, boiling, vs grilling dogs? Did you have any problems with the Health Department trying to discourage you from opening the HDV buisiness? Or worse, having family members trying to talk you out of it.
To me, the HDV cart business makes the best sense. Low overhead, set your own hours (once you are established)…you are your own boss – which is the best part. Everybody loves hot dogs!!! I understand its long hours and hit or miss as to having a great day or lousy one.
