Hey guys, I’ve never been here before and I do not know if this is the right place for this but I am desperate for information.
I’m a manager at a restaurant in NYC, and I need to purchase a new meat grinder. The most important thing I am looking for is heat resistance. Our old unit’s motor blew out last week and we suspect its because the Kitchen where it is running is way too hot. My boss requested I buy a heavy-duty 1.5HP unit that will last us a while. I don’t even know if more HP = more heat resistance, but that is what I am going with.
Some more info: We run the grinder for about an hour each day, making between one to two 15L buckets of ground meat. Like i mentioned we run it in an extremely hot area. Our old 1HP grinder would slow down and jam after about 20 min of use which I suspect is not normal and was caused by overheating.
A few models I have looked at were:
Weston #32 1.5HP: This is the one I decided on before realizing that it was discontinued ad out of stock everywhere
LEM #32 1.5HP: This is the alternative recommendation to the Weston, but it doesn’t have a reverse function, which make me hesitate.
Vollrath #22 1.5HP: Seems more expensive compared to the other 1.5HP grinders despite not offering anything extra. Also the unit REALLY heavy which I guess could indicate quality of parts, but its to the point that moving it becomes unrealistic.
Cabela 1.5HP: I can’t remember what the plate size on this one was. I simply hesitate because the gears as well as the casing have non-metallic parts which may effective heat resistance.
Literally any insight would be useful. Please help.
