Im just curious here. From what I’ve heard from my local Health Dept (Memphis, TN) they do not allow parking lot vendors to sell food. That means no setting up hot dog stands at Home Depot & no pulling a Roach Coach up to a construction site & selling food. Now from what I’ve seen when I’ve traveled to other cities & just from reading posts on this forum, it sounds like most cities allow this. Am I right in that assumption? Is Memphis just very picky? Or am I totally missing something or asking the wrong questions when Ive talked to the Health Dept? Now granted Ive never talked to them seriously about opening one of these, I’ve just asked them in conversation while getting my Temp permits for festivals & opening up previous brick & mortar shops & I gathered that Shelby County didnt allow that. But shoot, now that I’ve got the trailer (doing my mobile coffee shop at fairs & festivals) and the winter isnt the biggest time for outdoor festivals & fairs…I think setting up in a Mall or Home Depot parking lot between Thanksgiving & Christmas Eve sure sounds like a good idea to sell some good hot cappuccinos, cocoa, coffee, etc to all those crazy christmas shoppers! Any insite into the health dept? By chance has anyone ever dealt with the Memphis & Shelby County health dept? Or maybe theres a different way to go about getting permission for this type of setup? Or are there other cities out there that just dont allow this type of setup & Im out of luck!?
Thanks
Mitch
