I grew up in Oklahoma, thinking my grandmother’s fried chicken was the best ever. Then I moved to Ohio, and found some great fried chicken in many parts of the state. Also in Kentucky, West VA, etc.
5 years ago we moved to Hilton Head. On the way to Charleston yesterday, we stopped in at this small town no frills restaurant.
The! Best! Ever!
Fried Chicken like we’ve never had before! White meat, fresh not frozen, very thin skin, fried to perfection! My wife had the collard greens. Now, she is a collard green expert. Per her, the best ever! Her cucumber salad, to die for!
I had the red rice. Wow, put’s all the wannabe red rice recipes in it’s dust. Then, I had the fried corn. Now, I had never heard of fried corn. Waitress explained it, I ordered it. Lightly breaded corn on the cob deep fried. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Sweet, fresh, flavor of which my taste buds could not get enough!
Oh, and with unsweetened ice tea, the bill was less than $20!
This place is about 15 miles south of I-526 & hwy 21 intersection in Charleston in Ravenel, SC. Do not miss it if you have the opportunity. You can thank me later!
cheers,
