Today I had lunch at Wegman’s. While I used to eat there fairly frequently, I had not been there for…perhaps 8 months or so…and I thought that it was time to return.
Imagine my shock to see the drastic reduction in portion sizes. The Pulled Pork Sandwich is about half the size that it used to be, and the side dish that comes with it is less than half the size that it used to be. Even my SO, who is not really interested in large portions, said that the serving was not big enough. Also, the focaccia (sp?) bread that is used for the sandwich is not as good in quality as the bread that they used to use.
Although it appears that the price has remained the same, and the quality of the food (except for the bread) is equal to their previous quality, the drastic reduction in portion sizes actually results in a price increase of perhaps 100%, and I have concluded that I will think twice before lunching at Wegman’s again. It is just not anywhere near as good a value as it used to be.
