We just ate (again) at a great place (now "chain" – 3 locations in NM) in Santa Fe: Bumblebee’s.

It’s a sort of "faster-food" place where you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Then you go to the free salsa and chips bar and load up on cilantro/tomatillo salsa, chipolte salsa, pico de gallo, etc. Although SF is very NewMex the food here is more "Mescan" but with a twist: fish and shrimp tacos, burritos with chicken/yellow squash/goat cheese, chalupa salad bowl (taco shell made of melted cheese rather than flour), rotisserie chicken rubbed in chile, etc., as well as regular huge burritos. Desserts are Mexican Chocoalte Brownies and "Cowboy Cookies" (graham crackers covered with frosting, nuts and cinnamon). Nice kid’s menu, too

The place is very popular with locals and a nice alternative to the "tourist" scene.

I wonder if any other towns have a similar Mexican place – not quite RF, not quite upscale and freesh, freesh, freesh…..
