Are Increasing Food Prices Affecting You?
Food prices are steadily creeping up, not only in the US but also world wide for many reasons.
Seems someone figured out food is energy and adaptable to powering machines and power plants just as easily as it can power human beings. Other factors are increased shipping costs, increased production costs and a general malaise among consumers willing to accept anything.
Are increasing food prices affecting me? You bet. I am an adaptable cook and always have an eye out for sales, especially on meat. Fortunately, I can concoct perfectly good vegetarian meals as my wife is one. As I can’t find one good meat sale in River City this week, I think I will be enjoying my own vegetarian recipes.
This is not to say that vegetarian foods have escaped price increases. An example of this is the increase of pasta prices over just the last year. Premium brands have risen over 50%. Bread prices are up as well and it is not going to stop.
Even…or I should say especially in Italy pasta prices alone have become a matter of great social consternation. In what we call the Third World things are much more drastic.
So have increasing food prices affected you? What do you think about it all? Are you doing anything about it? I would like to know your opinion.
