Yeah yeah, I know Taco Bell is not really “mexican”, but I do like it from time to time, though.
When I was younger I had dreams of owning a Taco Bell. Not to be my own boss, not to make a lot of money, I really just wanted to make my own creations. Well, now that dream is true. While I don’t own my own Taco Bell, their app lets me customize anything I want!
Want to add potatoes and creamy jalapeno sauce to your mexican pizza? Done. Want to add a sauce that’s not in a certain buritto? Done. Want onions and pico de gallo on something that doesn’t normally have that? Done.
When you open the app it finds Taco Bell’s in your area and presents them to you on a map. Selecting one will pull up the menu.
The menu is colorful and organized by category. When you select an item it shows you a picture, price, and what’s included. You can swipe left and right to remove something or add extra.
There’s an add-ons menu that lets you add just about anything.. onions, tomatoes, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, cheese sauce, potatoes, meat, avocado ranch sauce, creamy jalapeno sauce, red sauce, etc. With each addition the price on top updates itself.
You can pay right through the app and store your credit card if you choose to. One thing I’d like to see added is PayPal. White Castle’s app allows PayPal, which is good because I sell t-shirts online and my payments go right onto my PayPal Credit Card.
After you make payment you have the option to pick up your food in store or in the drive-thru. The app says to make it there before the store closes. So you can order during the day when you’re not busy and just cruise by Taco Bell at dinner time without having to order since you already did so. I’m not sure what happens if you don’t get there by closing. Will my order still be good for the next day?
What would be cool is if they added some kind of feature where you can have a friends and family list. You could invite someone saying you’re ordering food for dinner and have someone else who has the app choose exactly what they want no matter if they’re with you or not.
The app uses GPS to know when you are in the area and they can start preparing your food. I’ve tried it at two different locations so far and it was accurate. As I was outside it knew and I clicked the button to say where I was picking up my food.
