My fellow Roadfood Friends I invite you all to come enjoy some fun in the sun, and the best GUMBO in the state of Florida.
I will be making my annual pilgrimage down to participate in the contest. There is nothing like cooking or eating GUMBO in the middle fo February in shorts on a white sand beach.
This is my dad and his wife from the contest two years ago, yes the contest is that close to the beach. Last year there were 40 some GUMBOs in competition.
I know there is the BBQ tour in TX going on that weekend, but if you are in the SE and are looking for a great quiet place to get away for the weekend come on down and visit Mexico Beach, Florida my home away from home.

There is several (3) hotels in the area, 2 of which sit right on the beach. There is several great local places to grab a bite to eat
Killer Seafood – A must when visiting
Fish House Family Restaurant – Always good, and good daily specials
Reagan’s Oyster Pub – a diamond in the rough, great fresh oysters.
Panama City is about 22 miles away, if you would like to fly in.
