You probably actually have to be working in the media business to know what the significance of this is. About 10 possibilities pop into my mind. But for Roadfood, I am speculating that it is an investment property for Fexy, just like buying land in an area that may increase in value. About the forum, it is just one more item to fatten up the sales brochure for Roadfood. Could there have been a requirement to maintain the forum? Possibly. When Bruce Foods sold the hot sauce business to Southeastern Mills, there was a stipulation to keep the plant in New Iberia, LA for (from my sleepy memory) ten years. If Roadfood were sold to another operator, could the new owners resurrect the forum? Sure, if they can see any money out of it. I see plenty of message boards that are monetized. Are they profitable? Dunno.
The only thing I note about the Fexy head count is that I think a large percentage of them are part-timers, working out of their homes.
