Who knew the Aztecs invented Tamale Pie?????

HEB has partnered with some notable local chefs during the lockdown to offer some of their most popular dishes in versions grocery shoppers can take home and heat ‘n eat. This is from James Beard award winning chef Hugo Ortega’s Hugo’s restaurant, which I’ve never been to.

Much more subtly spiced that the usual Tex-Mex tamale pie!! and pretty good.

The jalapenos were really hot – unusual for a casserole purchased at a grocery store.
