I’m in Birmingham. I do my shopping at Publix and Piggly Wiggly. Publix (and a WM Neighborhood Mkt I checked once but usually don’t frequent) have had less goods than The Pig! It’s amazing! Maybe smaller is better under these circumstances?
As for really good curbside takeout, I hit up The Bright Star – which is well-reviewed on Roadfood, and used to have numerous related threads in the forums – for Easter. It was great! After you put the bbq thought in my head, I might have to go to Bob Sykes, another Roadfood favorite, which is nearby in Bessemer, AL. I posted a bbq sandwich from Bob Sykes on the Fans of Roadfood facebook page recently. As far as Texas bbq, we do have some places that are getting into smoking briskets, but most of what you find here is pork. And some chicken.
I have been considering some booze too!
