Ralph Melton made an interesting point a couple of weeks ago that really got me thinking.

With us unable to visit Cleveland and spend money at the area restaurants so heavily affected by this, he pitched the idea of possibly paying a portion of our potential bills up front to help them survive.

Cathy White Lachmann brought up the idea of buying gift certificates to places offering them, which I think would be the easiest way to accomplish this.

I’m only talking about some of the major stops like Balaton, Der Brau, New Era, etc.
This is obviously in the preliminary stages, but what would those in the definitely-going category think of kicking in some money now to help ensure these restaurants are open when we eventually are able to dine there?

In the meantime I’ll look into who is offering gift certificates (some like Slyman’s aren’t even open now) and I’ll post my findings here.
