Put this on FB earlier as well…

————————————————————————–

I was hoping somehow this crisis would somehow just graze Ohio, peak earlier here or we would somehow find a way to halt the virus before our planned Crawl at the end of April.

But with 8,000 to 10,000 new cases expected daily here at its apex and the peak not expected in this state until May 1, we’re going to have to postpone this Crawl.

Several more of you have said in the past 24 hours you would not be able to attend for reasons I completely understand, which really squelched any hope of pulling this off.

It just wouldn’t be right to have a Crawl under these circumstances, especially with so many enthusiastic people unable to attend because of fear, ethics or just not being legally allowed to.

With restaurants closed in Ohio and relegated only to carry out, a lot of places on the itinerary are doing that and many others have simply closed their doors until this breaks.

We were already in trouble at a few stops: MLB is obviously not going to start by the end of the month, West Side Market would be chaos with restrictions and a trip to Grandpa’s Cheese Barn, which literally puts out over 100 samples daily, would’ve been pointless.

To prevent the possibility of having to postpone again if this drags on through the summer, and also to allow everyone sufficient time to request off at their respective workplaces, I propose we consider rescheduling this trip for September.

After Labo(u)r Day, kids are back in school and cities have fewer major activities, so it would be easier to get rooms and avoid large numbers of tourists.

I think we should consider the following weekends:

Sept. 9-13
Sept. 16-20
Sept. 23-27
Sept. 30-Oct. 4

I haven’t vetted any of them for major events in Cleveland, but I at least wanted to start the discussion.
