Made a chicken pot pie soup tonight – big pot, more meals coming. Got it too thin and soupy! Not enough chicken or vegetables but I did pick up some croissants shopping so that worked out well.
I’ve had Bana Tortellini – Prosciutto and mozz – I think it’s the variety I like best of their products. Trying out also the Bana refrigerated Pesto. I liked it so much, I did it twice this week. I bought a ‘family pack’ bag of the tortellini – I think there’s maybe one serving left.
Dug out some Swedish Potato Sausage from the depths of the freezer – pork, beef, potatoes, onions, sea salt, spices – not enough potato for something called potato sausage!
Also, a 44 Farms Angus beef wiener – skinless – on a brioche split top bun.
Eating good at home to put it another way- haven’t seen the chest freezer this empty since last time I defrosted it. Stores here are open – most on reduced hours. Last visit – deli section, where you can get a little bit higher quality meats and cheeses and other refrigerated products, was pretty fully stocked. The long wall of mass produced, packaged meats and cheeses was only about a quarter stocked. Produce department had only a few shortages, but dairy, meats, bottled water had been blitzed. Haven’t seen any eggs since the lockdowns began.
And ice cream selection is suffering. This is serious!
Some restaurants are turning into small pantries – selling what they can get from their suppliers to the public, even including toilet paper and cleaners. Some are giving up on trying to survive as take-out only enterprises. Just not enough business to justify bring in even a skeleton staff.
