Of course, all sorts of first time posting spammers are going to reply to this message. But, do any old-timers here have any experience with affordable forum software?
I was a moderator on a forum many years ago for a short time; the board is now defunct. I don’t remember what the software was. I had a few more tools to work with than Tony has here but I never saw the admin screens.
I don’t contribute much anywhere anymore – more here these days than anywhere else. I read eGullet and a local board known as HAIF; both use Invision Community software. I also follow, irregularly, two boards that arose from the ashes of Chowhound: Food Talk Central and Hungry Onion. They both use Discourse.
I’ve been on Blogger since ’07; I have 4 blogs there and have considered starting 2 more, one of which I might want to have a discussion board with. I’ve been told repeatedly that WordPress is superior to Blogger and I should try it. Needless to say, after what I’ve experienced here, that is not likely to happen.
None of this is any help to you probably but it’s all I’ve got!
