If I worked in digital publishing and my boss and the head of the finance shop came up to me and told me to cut costs in storing and hosting charges for my sites, I would draw a blank. I took a quick on the’net, and see lots of sites recommending WordPress and bbPress. I found a lot of not-quite-commercial software (e.g. Simple Machines) along with bbPress, which as we have seen, it not a plug-and-play solution but “iron in a cardboard box”, as they used to say back in the mainframe days. On the other hand, there are big-bucks solutions like Khoros Communities, formerly Lithium Community:

Of course, all sorts of first time posting spammers are going to reply to this message. But, do any old-timers here have any experience with affordable forum software?
