Let’s start with breakfast, for Portland, Oregon, is a great breakfast town. The best would have to include the original Original Pancake House (and still the best), masterfully brewed coffee and espresso drinks, Pine State Biscuits, old-fashioned and newfangled donuts, neighborhood coffee shops, and fresh fruit and bakery treats at a real farmer’s market. After breakfast, significant choices include such vintage seafood destinations as Dan & Louis Oyster Bar and Jake’s Famous Crawfish, Otto’s Sausage Kitchen for well-crafted dogs cooked on a sidewalk grill and eaten al fresco, the Grilled Cheese Grill for amazing sandwiches, and Huber’s Cafe for a turkey-and-fixins square meal along with high-proof, flaming Spanish coffee.
