Restaurants in Wells, ME

The Maine Diner of Wells just might be the most emblematic restaurant in the state. No, there isn’t a beautiful waterside view; and it’s basically an old fashioned diner (expanded and made comfy); and there are many things on the menu that you might find in any northeast cafe. However, the Downeast dishes are peerless: heavenly lobster pie (grandma’s recipe), seafood chowder, lobster rolls, chowder, clams, and Indian pudding. Wells also is home of renowned Congdon’s Doughnuts, where its reputation has been made not only by superb cake donuts, but breakfast of lobster Benedict, corned beef hash, and honey bun French toast. Whoopie pies are a specialty, too, available in single-serving size or cake size.
