West Hartford’s best-known eatery is the deliciously divey Quaker Diner, a 1931-vintage, brick-clad hash house that locals love for breakfast. Another favorite, also known for breakfast, is Mo’s Midtown. Here the hunky hash browns are grand, as are broad buttermilk pancakes, crisp-edged potato pancakes, and apple-walnut pancakes. Two West Hartford pizzerias have garnered praise from traveling food seekers. Harry’s Bishop Corner is loved for its fra diavolo white pie topped with roasted tomatoes, shrimp, scallops, pancetta, and sweet roasted potatoes. Luna Pizza’s wood-fired oven yields cornucopic vegetable pies as well as white clam pies and pies topped with locally-made Italian sausage. Roadfood correspondent Ayersian described Luna Pizza as a place that “blurs the line between where gourmet pizza stops and New Haven apizza begins.”
