@Roadfood
In the Roadfood world, no dessert inspires passion more than pie. One reason is that pie can be so regionally specific, whether Amish shoofly pie or Montana huckleberry pie. Pie devotees love to argue where the best are found. Chicago lays claim to bakeries whose pies are celestial; Arkansas and Texas are particularly pie-rich; Iowa is a bonanza of traditional farmhouse pies; and Pacific Northwest berries and cherries place Oregon, Washington, and Northern California among top contenders. Many of the most beloved pies are found coast to coast but with subtle differences, such as crust (shortbread, cookie crumbs, crumbled nuts) or top (lattice, crumb, whipped cream, whipped topping, meringue, syrup).
